Emojis are a great way to express your emotions and make your comments stand out. They help people understand how you feel about something, or what you’re trying to communicate. You can use them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter – the list goes on! But have you ever wondered if emojis work on YouTube too?
To find out for sure, we went straight to the source: YouTube Support’s website and found this statement: “YouTube will automatically convert certain simple emoji characters into animated 3D equivalents.” So yes they do work!
Although not all emojis show up as such (sorry ๐ ), there are still plenty that does. And since it is possible for some of these little guys to go unread, we’ve highlighted some of our favorites.
This is what you’ll need to do next:
- Go into your YouTube account and click on “Comments.” Then scroll down until you see the space for typing a comment.
- Type in your message as usual and then hit enter or return so that another line appears. This will be when you can put an emoji! They are keyed just like any other words, but they should automatically turn into animated emojis!
Now you know how to use emojis on YouTube comments! Happy commentating (we’re not sure if that’s a word).

If an emoji has a blank space next to it, then that means there isn’t currently anything there or YouTube did not recognize what word is meant by this symbol.
These are just a few of our favorites, but there’s also the icon for “information desk” that you can use to ask questions. YouTube is pretty cool! Happy commenting everyone!

The bottom line: Emojis work on YouTube comments as well–but not all of them do, unfortunately. And because some emojis can’t be read by others, itโs important to highlight your favorite ones like crying faces or winking faces so they donโt go unnoticed. Now that we know how to use emojis on YouTube comments, itโs time for you to go and comment away!
