What to do before you delete your YouTube account
- Log into your YouTube account and open the menu at the top left of the screen.
- Select “Creator Studio.”
- Click on Channel from this section, where you will find a list of all your videos. Delete or unpublish them until there are no more in this list. You should now be able to see an option that says “Delete channel”.
- Click it!
- This step is very important because if you delete only one video without doing so then not even deleting any others, they’ll still show up when people search for you online.

How to link or unlink your YouTube and Gmail accounts?
To link your Gmail account and YouTube one, you need to go into the settings of both accounts. When in YouTube, click “linked services” and then sign in with your Gmail address.

How to delete the videos from a channel on YouTube without deleting the Gmail account entirely?
- Log in to your Gmail account and then click on the gear icon at the top of the screen. – Click “Data tools” > Google Takeout, which is near the bottom of this list. – Select “create a copy”. This step allows you to download an archive file containing all of your emails from Gmail with no risk that they’ll be deleted when you delete your YouTube account.
- You may need administrator privileges for some browsers or accounts if Google Takeout doesn’t show up as an option. If you don’t have those access rights, see below how to take screenshots instead (though these won’t include attachments). – Go back into your YouTube settings page and remove any mention of email addresses. – After you’ve done this, go to the Gmail account and delete any emails you may have sent from it.
- Back on your YouTube settings page, select “delete all my videos” or manually remove them one by one if desired. This will permanently take down those videos from YouTube without deleting your entire YouTube account.
- Warning: If you also deleted the email address linked with your Google Wallet after removing it from YouTube, then before proceeding be sure to log in into a different browser (or another device) and add that email back as an authorized account for Google Wallet which is required for purchases made through Play Store app/website.
- Otherwise, try contacting google support using the chat box at the bottom of their homepage at Gmail dot com.
- You have now successfully deleted the YouTube account but not Gmail – you will want to go back into your Gmail settings and turn off “autofill” on all devices to avoid accidentally logging in with that email address.

Google takeout allows for a user’s data (emails, contacts, calendars, etc) to be exported from one or more google accounts.
This can allow someone who wants their content removed from another site such as youtube.com, Facebook, Twitter, etc., access to export their emails without having them erased when they delete their account because all of these sites are connected via sync features like oAuth which then share information with other services linked using this feature.
